A Funny Thing Happened on The Way To The Premiere

By Jason Goldstein — April 12, 2011

In a way, our first feature was born in Columbia. Sometime in 2006, Randy and I had lunch at a Mizzou dining hall (Plaza, actually) talking about Grant's movie idea.

It was called American Gothic. It was intriguing, but raw and impractical. And so we decided, at the time, to write it off.

But nothing ever goes to plan, and within 6 months we found ourselves shooting a feature in the summer heat.

We've done two big Columbia screenings, shot The Girlfriend Claire on the Mizzou campus, among other small projects. I graduated almost a year ago, and Randy is well on his way out the door.

But before we leave Columbia, we want to do one Last Big Show.

The Last Big Show

We love movie theaters. Let's be honest, you can have your big TV, your surround sound, but watching a movie in your living room isn't the same as watching it with an audience. Especially when the cast and crew are a part of that audience. When you're seeing something new, something that virtually nobody has seen before.

From where I sit, its the most stressful and exciting thing I've ever done. With the final cut complete, we find ourselves "dusting off the Be The Shoe marketing machine." Trailers. Posters. Press.

And tonight, all of that goes live.

Watch the trailer. Join our Facebook event (and Like the Shoe if you haven't already).

A Small Favor

I'd like to ask you for a small favor. These shows are hard to put on. They're worth it, but they're always a big risk, especially as our old audience scatters across the country.

So please come, and bring a few friends. As always we appreciate your support, and we're very excited for the official premiere of Loss For Words.

We'll see you May 4 in Columbia! (Doors open at 7pm at the Blue Note, show starts at 7:30 sharp.)
