Project Shoestring

Online Distribution for Independent Films

The digital revolution gave local musicians the power to deliver music directly to their audience. We do the same thing for movies.

What is Project Shoestring?

It's a platform for selling digital copies of movies online. When we premiered Salad Daze, we needed an efficient way to distribute copies, and DVDs weren't going to cut it.

Why is it awesome?

In order to meet our own ridiculously high standards, we built our platform the way we thought digital cinema should be. That means

High Quality

Many digital distributors cut corners. We use genuine DVD quality.

Reasonable

We agree, digital things should be cheaper than hard copies.

Compatible

Watch your movies any way you want. We're DRM free.

Project Shoestring doesn't compromise. As a result, we outperform every other digital cinema store on the market. (Yes, including iTunes.)

I'm new to digital cinema. Tell me more.

Fair enough. You buy the film using your Amazon.com account, and then you download the movie. Salad Daze is 2.5GB, and takes about 2 hours to download over your average cable Internet connection.

Once it finishes, you can watch the movie on your computer using most modern media players. (We like VLC, but QuickTime/iTunes works just fine.) You can put it on your iPod, or burn it to a DVD.

And that's it. It's just like buying music.

Will Project Shoestring revolutionize the way independent films are distributed?

It almost did, but that's a long story.
